We couldn’t talk about the Pikes Peak competition’s biggest challenger, the Hyundai-powered RMR PM580 without speaking about the reigning champion.

That would be the Hill Climb Special Suzuki SX4 that Monster Tajima will be taking for a “drive” during the 2011 International Pikes Peak Hill Climb event.

Just like the Hyundai opponent, there’s a road-going car it is related to in the form of the Suzuki SX4 slightly raised hatchback.

When it’s going up the hill, there’s a lot more than a little hatchback with some wings to consider.

Monster Tajima claims that the underpinnings and the setup he is using have the making of what is necessary in order to break the 10 minute barrier at Pikes Peak.

The source of power for this crazy little hatchback is a 3.1 liter twin-turbocharged V6 which has some sort of fade connection to the Suzuki powerplant they put in the Grand Vitara.

Despite the connection, all the upgraded parts and the effort of some high performance of a twin turbocharging kit brings the final output to a scarcely believable 910 horsepower.

The performance isn’t the most difficult aspect to sort with a racing car. Monster Tajima, Suzuki and their crew will have a lot more work to do with the gearbox and all wheel drive system that can put this power on the road.

Another incredible amount of work went into re-tuning the suspension, spring rates, tires and wheel setup for the new course.

As I’m sure some of you know, this year the Pikes Peak race includes an extended tarmac component which is part of how the sub 10 minute time is possible.

Apart from the crazy aero body kit which sticks the Suzuki SX4 Hill Climb Special onto the road there’s a custom made set of Falken tires and HRE forged monoblock wheels.

Both of these critical components have actually been made exclusively for the Monster Tajima Suzuki and the wheels are even called P43S Tajima Specials.

The end result of all this technology, custom built components and team efforts mean that there’s no point in measuring “normal” performance stats like the 0 to 62 acceleration.

Because of the immense amount of power, the four wheel drive grip and the close ratio gearbox that quickly calls upon the 910 horsepower of the engine, the best we got from Tajima is a very popular statement.

The Suzuki SX4 Hill Climb Special can go from 0 to 100 mph in no time at all, regardless of the surface you’re doing it all.

Audi chromes R8 V10 Spyder for charity

As any business man will tell you, one of the finest “colors” you can order on your Audi in is Silver Gray.

While it makes us sad, there’s a reason behind it and we might as well come to terms with it. Audi on the other hand has different plans.

In preparation for a pretty important charity event, the Ingolstadt based company is going to turn up with an Audi R8 V10′s that they’ve customized to sort of fit the “preferred color”

While not completely gray and completely discrete, this special R8 V10′s has been chromed out by Audi in order to have a more pompous and unique appearance.

It may be a little too flamboyant a look for most people and Audi is actually going to use the fact that the auction was held at a charity ball by just such a person.

The excuse for chroming the Audi R8 V10 Spyder for the bidding is that it took place during Elton John’s famous White Tie and Tiara Ball.

Dressing up and dancing is a front for efforts to raise money and awareness for the Elton John Aids Foundation (EJAF). Audi has been a part of the ball for several years now and it’s a nice tradition.

The winning bid on the chromed Audi R8 V10 Spyder was quite substantial especially given how last year somebody paid more than half a million dollars for an A1 Art Car.

As the night was coming to an end, the gabble was broken out and people took such interest in the chromed Audi R8 V10 to the point where it would be worth £250.000 (roughly 401.000 dollars).

That’s not the end of the story, the popularity of the Audi R8 V10 Spyder was obviously apparent when people when the Germans decided that all that improved interest in a car and a special paint job is worth giving more.

As a result of this information, the Ingolstadt based company upped the ante and decided to throw in a second Audi R8 V10 in the same chrome finish.

The two German supercars were donated to the Elton John charity foundation and the net profit it ended up with was £620.000 (the equivalent of nearly 1.000.000 USD).

Who would’ve thought that fighting AIDS is going to be done with a 194 mph convertible supercar?

A chrome finish would probably keep the owner from speeding it too often and that’s a shame because the 5.0 liter Audi V10 engine develops 525 horsepower.

The Americans from Ford decided to announce the first details on a new special edition dedicated to the well-known muscle car in the range, Mustang. The new special edition of the current Ford Mustang is called “V6 Sport Appearance” and will be sold exclusively in Japan. I don’t know exactly the market strategy of the Americans but launching a styling package for a pretty spicy model in a country which still struggles to recover from the devastating earthquake earlier this year doesn’t seem to be the best idea.

However, the new styling package developed by Ford especially for the Japanese customers comes with noteworthy modifications able to get the American muscle car a refreshed appearance.

The American muscle car might not be the first choice in its segment judging by the sales but there is no problem developing new editions, furthermore, attractive more customers from foreign markets being a way to round a little bit the profit. Therefore, the V6 Sport Appearance comes with two special exterior paint jobs, namely “Grabber Blue” and Performance White”. Under the bonnet, power is provided by the 3.7-liter V6 unit able to deliver 309 horsepower and 378 Nm of torque.

According to Ford, the new V6 Sport Appearance package is available on both coupe and convertible variant of the current Mustang. Besides the special paint job, Ford offers new 18-inch chromed alloy wheels fitted with 235/50 R18 tires. Other exterior features of the new styling package include a revised hood and a rear boot lid spoiler. The exterior appearance is completed by special stripes on the side and bonnet, no body kit or other more advanced components able to significantly increase the aggressivity being available.

The interior is receiving the same minor tweaks, a new pair of leather seats being added by the Americans while other improvements are missing. The V6 Sport Appearance package will be available in a limited series of 50 units (25 for each body style) with prices around $54,000 (coupe) and $63,000 (convertible).

2011 Scion FR-S Concept Review,Specs and Official Photo Gallery

Scion has introduced a car FR-S sports coupe concept at the show in 2011 New York International Auto Show. Scion FR-S Concept will inspire for new models coming to the Scion brand in 2012. Scion FR-S Concept, which stands for Front-engine, rear-wheel drive, which is an authentic sports car with an interesting style, perfectly balanced performance and handling, as well as utilities and MPG are surprisingly flexible.
"Scion is always experimenting with new things," said Jack Hollis, Scion vice president. "The brand is iconic with the xB, adrenalized by the tC, and groundbreaking with the iQ. The FR-S will expand the brand into yet another new dimension that I know it is truly destined for."
The Scion FR-S is a real "shoot" born into a long history of Toyota performance cars and motor sports. The sports coupe is most influenced by the generation of the Corolla AE86, better known as the Hachi-Roku inspired knowledge, ie "8-6″in Japanese. The front-engine, rear-drive coupe was balanced and properly, making it a good choice for car enthusiasts.
Inspired by the AE86 FR-S is built around the core target, "Pure Balance", with the strategic placement of a flat 2.0-liter boxer engine in a front-engine, rear wheel drive configuration begins. The engine size and compact form, the Scion FR-S 'powertrain is mounted lower and further back to back, giving the car a lower center of gravity and dynamic tariffs to rear weight ratio.
The fierce exterior of the Scion FR-S Concept is a good reflection of its inner power. The intimidating proportions of the concept give it a dominant stance that bleeds performance. The profile, inspired by the Toyota 2000GT, reveals a hood-line that is remarkably sleek and low, made possible by the boxer's architecture. The low stance continues to exaggerate the FR-S' menacing face, which is made up of sharp lines, a wide mouth and angular headlights that include bright LED clusters.
The solid panel roofline is sleek, lightweight and rigid, slotted with an aerodynamic shape that channels air cleanly over to the top. The front fenders protrude upward, making space for the massive monoblock Five Axis 20×8.5-inch wheels, while the muscular rear fenders are widened to house the 20×10.5-inch wheels, emphasizing the Scion FR-S Concept' staggered stance and rear-wheel-drive setup.

The rear fascia sits low and wide, with extensive lower treatments that surround the dual exhaust exits and contribute to excellent aerodynamics. LEDs illuminate both the edgy taillights and the bold "SCION" logo. The concept features four-piston-caliper front brakes that clamp down on monstrous 18-inch annular carbon ceramic matrix rotors that are fixed to the wheels in a motorcycle-fashion.
The Scion FR-S Concept is layered in rich coats of Code Red, the appropriately named color that consists of a custom blend of candy and a developmental additive from BASF called Mearlite SSQ.
