Mercedes decided to unveil a new special edition for a model which is quite close to its retire, the current S-Class range to be more precise. We talk about the Grand Edition, a special package that is designed for the Italian market and brings some aesthetic improvements along a decent range of engine choices. According to the official details, the new S-Class Grand Edition comes to celebrate all the vehicles sold in Italy, around 6,300 but also all the S-Class units marketed worldwide, more than 380,000.
Power comes from a range of four engines, two diesel and two petrol units more exactly. The S-Class Grand Edition comes with a 306 horsepower unit for the S 350 BlueEFFICIENCY version while a more potent variant, the S 500 with 435 horses is available as well.
If you are looking forward for reduced fuel consumption you can opt either for the S 250 CDI version with 204 horsepower or the S 350 BlueTEC offering 258 horses. On the other hand, the styling improvements are really noteworthy.
To begin with, Mercedes fitted the Grand Edition with the AMG Styling package which includes new front and rear bumper with air intakes, LED daytime lights, a set of 19-inch AMG five-spoke alloy wheels fitted with 255/40 (front) and 275/40 (rear) tires.
Inside, the potential customers will enjoy a new leather steering wheel, stainless steel pedals, black ash trim, velour floor mats, electric side mirrors, rear camera and parking assist system but also an improved AMG braking system with larger perforated discs.
The four-cylinder S 250 CDI manages to keep the fuel consumption at 5,7 liters/100 km thanks to the numerous technologies able to ensure the efficiency. The CO2 emissions are also as low as 164 g/km, Mercedes claiming that their vehicles are one of the most clean in the world.
For now, the Germans released no pricing on the new S-Class Grand Edition but you will find all the details by contacting the nearest dealership as long as you are living in Italy.

Fiat’s 500 long ago took over American fashion-conscious cities such as New York and the likes and has even went on to penetrate the rest of the U.S. market.
The Italian company’s hotter version of the 500, something the Europeans have enjoyed for years was still reluctant to appear over there.
Now, thanks to a twitter message from Fiat’s U.S. handler we’re told that its finally coming. An official market debut is scheduled to take place at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.
The 2011 Los Angels Auto Show is scheduled for November so there’s still a bit of a wait and all odds would point towards a short period of waiting after that up until the dealers actually get it and deliver it.
As you can see chances for having the actual 2012 Fiat 500 Abarth on your driveway by the end of the year seem to be getting pretty slim.
When it does actually become available the 2012 (or 2013?) Fiat 500 Abarth will not be identical to the version Europeans have had on their hands for years.
The engine is still a 1.4 liter turbocharged MultiAir four cylinder but the one in the U.S. market isn’t made by Fiat. It’s actually a Chrysler powerplant which is said to develop some 175 horsepower or so.
Bearing in mind that the hottest EsseEsse version developed 170 in Europe, you can’t say the American version of the Fiat 500 Abarth is lacking in any way shape or form.
A predicted starting price for the Italian hatchback should come in the U.S. at $20.000 and we don’t expect any of the interior fittings or optional extras to change or disappear in the process of crossing the Atlantic.
Bear in mind that this is nothing more than speculation as to how the hottest and most kitted up version of the Fiat 500 you can buy in the United States comes in at around 19.500 but the Mini, something the Fiat 500 has always been compared to is around 5.000 more expensive to start with.
In all honesty, there’s very little to say about the Fiat 500 Abarth any more and there’s a whole lot less to say about its U.S. counterpart.
What really got me somewhat fascinated by this debut news was the fact that the announcement came through Social Media first.
Lupica G. 27 Jul, 2011It’s not like the 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe is lacking in power when it rolls off the production line. It’s not like the 2011 CTS-V isn’t striking enough.
It’s just that Hennessey is a tuner that reckons extreme power is what people want and that’s precisely what the American company delivers.
Once a CTS-V coupe is adapted to the shape of the 2012 Hennessey Twin Turbo V1000 it stops being a fast car and enters realm of the totally crazy ways of moving about.
This is because V8 under the bonnet has 7 liters to play with and an immense amount of modifications in order to keep the new twin turbocharging system from blowing it to bits.
A short list includes the following updates done by Hennessey to the 2011 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe:
Team this lot with an electronic brain tailored specifically for this engine and those enormous turbos and you find a total output from this car close to staggering.
The 2012 Hennessey Twin Turbo V1000 develops 1.000 brake horsepower @ 6.400 rpm and 950 lb-ft torque @ 4.000 rpm.
To put these sort of figures into perspective it’s safe to say that the 2012 Hennessey Twin Turbo V1000 develops as much power as the original Bugatti Veyron and has slightly more torque.
A bit of work was done to the interior but it’s probably the least relevant of details on this transformation of the Caddy CTS-V Coupe.
The exterior receives a completely redesigned aero body kit with flared wheel arches, splitters and side skirts. The front of the car was opened up by quite a bit in order to keep cooling within parameters and there’s a new hood as well.
At the end of the day the loud pedal stats are as follows; 0 to 62 is dealt with in just 3.5 seconds, the quarter mile takes 10.9 seconds and the top speed reaches 230 mph.
Braking, wheels and the tires were considerably upgraded in order to try and keep the Hennessey monster on the road but weirdly, the suspension is left almost untouched.
It must make for some interesting handling but according to the tuner, the factory setup Cadillac fit the CTS-V Coupe with is re-tuned and lowered by 1 inch both front and back.
