Renault decided to reveal two special editions which are dedicated to the British market and are available for order from July 1st, which is yesterday. To be more precise, the French manufacturer revealed the “Silverstone GP” edition of the Twingo Renaultsport 133 and Clio Renaultsport 200, a special edition which comes to celebrate the well-known racing circuit.
“Renault UK has an existing relationship with Silverstone, the country's most famous motor racing circuit and home of the British Grand Prix, through a fleet of Renaultsport trackday experience cars and the venue for several of the performance division's trackdays, so it was only natural that the French marque took it as its latest inspiration,” said Renault.
According to the official details, the British customers will get just 50 units of each special model with pricing starting from £14,995 for the Twingo RS 133 while the Clio RS 200 comes at a price of £19,995. In terms of styling tweaks and features, the Silverstone GP edition brings a silver metallic exterior finish, components in “Deep Black" such as the roof, side mirrors and also the new set of Speedline 17-inch alloy wheels.
Renault announced that both the models are fitted with the Cup Chassis while other improvements include a new stainless steel exhaust system, special badging and a new rear spoiler for the Twingo RS 133. At the interior, the Silverstone GP edition brings Renaultsport Recaro front seats and Bluetooth connectivity for the Clio RS 200 while both models receive special carpet mats, Renaultsport Monitor onboard performance tracking system and a numbered plaque.
Moreover, the French people from Renault claim that buying one of the two special models you will get a free Renaultsport Experience (usually costing £175) at the Silverstone circuit. This will give you the opportunity to properly test your model at the British circuit.
“Following the recent launch of the flagship 265hp Trophy version of Mégane Renaultsport, its two smaller, but no less thrilling, performance siblings, Twingo and Clio Renaultsport, now welcome their own top-of-the-range versions, the 'Silverstone GP' limited editions, on sale from 1st July 2011,” adds Renault.
Rikk 03 Jul, 2011Petrolhead, Australia. I don’t know if a city like this actually exists or not but if it did, a local holiday would be brewing about now.
Why? Well because after countless rumors and warnings about the production of the Joss JP1, Australia’s first supercar was unveiled today.
With the unveiling of the final aspect of the JP1, Joss Developments Limited gave us some official details on their Aussie monster.
The final aspect of the Joss JP1 is still rather bland and boring but then again, the prototypes we’ve seen before revealed most of the shape as being like that.
As far as we can tell all that god changed is in the details of how the Joss JP1 looks. To be honest, the Australians, just as the supercar fans won’t be that interested in the looks.
The performance is where it counts and on that front the Joss JP1 is even better than rumors and initial forecasts would have us believe.
Courtesy of a 6.6 liter aluminium V8 engine that develops some considerable oomph at 500 horsepower and a world of torque and a special gearbox this is a remarkably fast road car.
The gearbox I’m talking about is an Albins Zeroshift Automated Manual Transmission and while we have no actual information on the sort of smoothness and precision at hand it can manage the engine’s power quite well.
Acceleration from 0 to 62 is dealt with in what’s defined as a less than 3 second time and 0 to 100 mph takes precisely 6.0 seconds.
That is impressive, no doubt it is, but the top speed figure is even more so because it is rated at 224 mph, 12 mph more than the Australians initially declared.
So let’s sum up. So far, the Australian Joss JP1 has a lot of power, it can handle it and it can do so at an immense pace.
Further details and better shots will be available once we get some feedback on the Melbourne Motor Show, as that’s where Joss will show the JP1 to the public in the flesh.
The only slight problem with the Joss Developments Limited’s road going creation is how it will cost half a million Australian dollars to buy (roughly 526.000 USD).
This is what will most likely dent its international appeal but on the bright side it will be very tempting on the Australian market as because of high taxes European supercars end up costing a lot more than in other places.

Lupica G. 02 Jul, 2011The British people from Land Rover are looking forward to enter the American market with the new Evoque, a model designed to increase the competition in the compact SUV segment where German models are currently in the lead. The Range Rover Evoque debuted in November last year, at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show, the British company displaying to body variants: the three-door version earlier revealed at Paris and the five-door model.
The new Evoque will be marketed in 160 countries worldwide while the North American deliveries are scheduled to begin later this year.
According to Land Rover, the new Evoque starts from $43,995 for the five-door variant while the three-door model costs $44,995. These prices include destination and delivery fees but the prices may vary due to the local fees or dealer’s pricing. The British company focuses most on the fuel consumption and CO2 emissions of the smallest model in range, Land Rover announcing a fuel consumption of 8,4 liters/100 km (highway) and 12,3 liters/100 km (city), figures based on EPA estimate.
In order to achieve these results, Land Rover used lightweight materials resulting into a total mass of 1,680 kilograms but also new efficiency technologies and environmentally conscious design. The body of the new Range Rover Evoque is made of steel while polymer and composite was used for the front fenders and tailgate. The British model also features magnesium cross car beam, aluminum hood and roof panels. Recycled plastic material is used for wheel arch liners, center console, air cleaner, engine cover and subwoofer box, a total of 16 kilograms of recycled plastic being used.
Under the bonnet, the American version of the Range Rover Evoque gets the 2.0-liter turbocharged able to deliver 240 horsepower. The model is available in both 4WD and 2WD variants while the four-cylinder gasoline engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.
“As the lightest and most fuel efficient Range Rover ever, the Range Rover Evoque sends a powerful message that the company is serious about sustainability and is determined to deliver vehicles that are both relevant and highly desirable. The Range Rover Evoque addresses the growing consumer need for more environmentally friendly vehicles,” says the British company.
Rikk 02 Jul, 2011BMW has just decided to sharpen up the options list for a new 3 Series. They didn’t do this because their small saloon doesn’t sell, they did it for just the opposite reason.
The extra “options” come in the shape of two new special editions for the BMW 3 Series, these would be the Exclusive Edition and the M Sport.
Both packages are available only for the Coupe and Convertible forms of the BMW 3 Series so there’s even more exclusivity thrown in.
Let’s get down to business then. The 2012 BMW 3 Series Exclusive Edition, as well as the M Sport, is only going to be available in Europe.
The Exclusive Edition comes with a very special Mineral Grey exterior paint. I’m aware it’s still boring and grey, but let’s remember that this is a special sort of grey.
In order to considerably sweeten the deal there’s a set of “unique”, lightweight 18 inch V-Spoke alloy wheels which, sadly also come with a grey-like finish.
Happily though, the interior is just a bit more interesting because on top of the endless amount of Pearl Grey “colored” Dakota leather, there’s some Bamboo grain anthracite wood trim that you won’t find in other 3 series models.
On the front of a 2012 BMW 3 Series M Sport Edition, the special features are different because they are aimed at the performance enthusiast as opposed to the attention hog.
The BMW M3 Silverstone paint driver is the first thing you’ll notice about and then you get to the wheels.
The M Sport Edition still offers special 18 inch alloy wheels but this time they use a simpler looking five-spoke model. The interior also gets a few aesthetic updates such as an M Sport steering wheel, stainless steel pedals and Dakota leather seats with blue contrast stitching.
Where it really counts however, the Bavarians have invested quite a bit of time in engineering time on the suspension setup.
BMW didn’t share any details on exactly what they did but we’re promised that the 2012 M Sport 3 Series feels a lot better than all other models in the range.
It seems like they’ve even given some attention to the aerodynamics while they’ve been tweaking the suspension because there’s a new body color coded rear diffuser that’s integrated into the rear apron.
Pricing wasn’t announced and nor was availability but I wouldn’t expect it to be way to different from what BMW charges for their special optional extras.
