By means of a software update and a sports tire out system the performance of the V8 biturbo engine was increased by around 62 Ps and 90 Newton metres. To help the 470 horsepower get straight to work an unique KICHERER Power Converter was mounted in the Mercedes-Benz CLS 500 Coupe. The accelerator pedal thus reacts almost right away to the driver's commands. Both ear and eye can delight in many ways in a beautiful wear out system at the rear of the vehicle. On the one hand even the ex-works end pipes are persuasive with a modern, almost rectangular design and on the other hand the KICHERER sports exhaust system after it produces a sportily exciting but still discrete V8 sound.

The elegant side-view of the CLS 500 is perfected by the sportily filigree, hand-made KICHERER RS-1 20 inch forged wheels – behind which one can easily visualize the power of the 6 and 4 piston high performance braking system. With its compound discs and the bendable stainless steel hoses this ensures the appropriate negative acceleration for the performance is produced. The noble interior complements the overall look of the KICHERER CLS Edition Black and been refitted to the highest quality with interior elements and door sills in piano lacquer. The chassis was refurbished to match the exterior character of the car with a High End Foliation in matte black and carbon.

I think we may just be at a point where the Fiat 500 Abarth has gotten too popular for its own sake and Fiat is looking for alternative ways of delivering Abarth performance to the fans.

The good looking Fiat Punto is one excellent starting plate but the Evo version it already has is a bit wet. What we have here is an Abarth Fiat Punto that is ready for the straight jacket.

It’s called the Abarth Fiat Punto Evo EsseEsse and it is important for two serious aspects. Firstly, it’s most likely to be the last hurrah version we see of the current Punto before a new model takes its place sometime within the next couple of years.

At the heart of all this new performance is the same 1.4 liter Turbocharged petrol engine. With the help of turbo swap to a Garrett GT1446 fixed-geometry unit and recalibrated ECU, it ends up developing 180 horsepower which, in turn, offers new stats.

The 0 to 62 mph sprint lasts 7.5 seconds and the top speed of the Abarth Fiat Punto Evo EsseEsse is now a respectable 135 mph.

Stopping after such acceleration or at such a high speed will be done courtesy of newly added and considerably improved Brembo brakes with a cross drilled all around system.

Crazy fun stuff from Abarth over, here comes the sensibleness from Fiat. The new Punto Evo EsseEsse is Euro 5 compliant, emits of 142 g/km of CO2 and averages 47.1 mpg.

Helping these aspects is Fiat’s TwinAir technology, a Stop/Start system as standard and a Gear Shift Indicator that can tell you when to change gear in order to drive more economically.

Pressing the sport button however will make that same GSI system tell you when to hit the next gear on a performance run.

That sport button also sharpens up the dampers and updates some of the chassis settings in order to give drivers of the Abarth Fiat Punto Evo EsseEsse a more responsive feel.

As an added bonus for the sensible types, Fiat dealers can sell you the Abarth EsseEsse Punto Evo as a kit, up to one year after the purchase of the “normal” car.

Seat’s performance oriented lineup is about to get one new entry and it’s going to be a hot(ter) version of their small Ibiza.

Small is becoming a relative term when referring to cars these days because the 2012 Seat Ibiza ST FR is now a mini estate.

The new hotted up small estates was spotted out in its final stages of testing, pretty much undisguised, guess next to guess what petrolhead hot spot.

Obviously, it was next to Germany’s Nurburgring Nordschleife and although it wasn’t caught in photos on the fabled track it’s pretty difficult to imagine a manufacturer considering a performance model these days without some testing there.

Be that as it may, the new 2012 Seat Ibiza ST FR is supposed to be powered by the hottest engines of the normal car.

Just like the non estate hot Ibiza, Seat will be using the 1.4 liter turbocharged TSI petrol powered unit to give the ST FR 150 horsepower and 162 lb-ft of torque or a slightly beefier diesel.

The diesel is the least certain of powerplants but it is still quite the admirable one, a 2.0 liter TDI unit with 143 horsepower and 236 lb-ft of torque on tap.

Before anybody gets too offended by the small capacity engines and somewhat low outputs let me remind you that the 2012 Seat Ibiza ST FR is going to be a pretty low cost option and that the standard versions of this car are powered by considerably… more economical engines.

Under the bonnet of a 2012 Seat Ibiza resides stuff like a 70 horsepower 1.2 liter three cylinder, an 85 horsepower 1.4L and with a 105 horsepower 1.2 liter TSI being the only turbocharged engine.

Sure there’s a list of three even more… economical diesel engine but all those remind you is just how fun the ST FR’s powerplants are by comparison.

Apart from the engine compartment adaptations, Seat is going to give the 2012 Ibiza ST FR a few visual tweaks such as larger alloy wheels, low profile tires and twin tailpipes round the back.

A debut for this nearly non-sensible small estate is expected to come around at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show this September and it should also bring news about a rumored even hotter version.

That would be a 2012 Seat Ibiza ST that wears the infamous Bocanegra nameplate and it’s something we got a sneak preview of at the 2010 Wörthersee GT festival.

The French people from Renault decided to release further details on the new Frendzy concept, a small van with an interesting appearance which represents Renault’s new philosophy. The asymmetric body style of the new Frendzy concept has a dual role, the French model being considered both a commercial and family vehicle.

In terms of dimensions, the new concept measures 4,091 mm in length, 1,872 mm width and 1,743 mm height and a kerb weight of 1420 kilograms. Besides the futuristic design approach, the French concept also adopts an eco-friendly powertrain, a zero-emission one to be more precise.

Under the hood of the stylish concept, Renault fitted an electric motor able to deliver 60 horsepower and 226 Nm of torque, mated to a direct drive transmission. It comes with a lithium-ion battery pack and is able to reach a top speed of 130 km/h with zero CO2 emissions.

“Frendzy is the fourth vehicle to illustrate Renault's new design strategy, a series which started with DeZir. It takes an original and innovative stance on the world of light commercial vehicles – a key part of Renault's activities,” declared Laurens van den Acker, Renault's Head of Design.

Another noteworthy feature of the new Frendzy is the sliding side door system which comes with a 37-inch screen able to display various messages. Renault Frendzy also features a fabric roof that can adapt to the size of the objects you transport. In terms of interior appearance, Renault decided to use a combination of wood and metal along special lighting and a new 7-inch BlackBerry PlayBook for an enhanced internet surfing.

The Renault Frendzy concept is scheduled to be revealed in front of the audience at the upcoming Frankfurt Auto Show. For now, we don’t know if the French company will introduce in the near future a model based on this interesting concept but we can clearly see how the design will evolve in the future. Chrysler debuts Grand Voyager facelift in the UK from £27,995

Chrysler released details on the revised Grand Voyager, a model which is scheduled to enter the UK market soon. In the U.S., the American company sells the model as Town & Country, the facelift version we are talking about now being introduced in September last year. However, it seems that the minivan reaches the UK market only around one year since its debut, carrying the same styling improvements as its American version.

At the exterior, the revised Chrysler Grand Voyager benefits from minor improvements such as a new rear bumper, revised tailgate and LED rear lights but also a restyled front end.

If the Chrysler Town & Country comes with a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 unit able to produce 283 horsepower, its British brother gets a more fuel efficient and less powerful diesel unit. The Grand Voyager will be available with a single engine choice, a 2.8-liter CRD diesel able to develop 161 horsepower at 3800rpm and 360 Nm of torque. The CRD diesel powerplant enables the American model to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 12,8 seconds and ensures a top speed of 187 km/h. Chrysler announced CO2 emissions of 222 g/km while the model returns a fuel consumption of 8,4 liters/100 km (33,6mpg UK).

As mentioned in the title, the revised Grand Voyager debuts in the United Kingdom at a starting price of £27,995. This price is available for the LX trim level which includes cruise control a leather steering wheel with audio controls as standard. For extra £2,000 you can get the Touring package which brings a 6.5-inch CD radio, reversing camera, auto dimming rear view mirror and the Uconnect Phone Bluetooth connectivity with voice recognition.

For £35,995 you can get the revised Chrysler Grand Voyager with the Limited trim level which brings in addition a new Nappa leather upholstery, blind spot monitoring and crosspath detection. “It carries Chrysler's new winged badge, but that's not the only change made to the 2011 model year Grand Voyager. The latest in a long line of luxury people carriers – Chrysler invented the MPV in 1983 and has since sold more than 13 million examples – has been given a raft of enhancements for the model year change,” says the company.
