Renault decided to refresh the Gordini range in the UK with two new versions of the current Clio. At the moment, only the Clio RS Gordini is available in the UK, a model which develops 200 horses and is quite expensive considering that it is the most powerful variant.

In this situation, the French manufacturer decided o introduce two more affordable versions, a 1.6-liter VVT unit offering 128 horsepower and a 1.5-liter dCi turbo diesel delivering 106 horsepower. The petrol engine is able to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 9,3 seconds and returns a fuel consumption of 42,2 mpg UK. We have no performance figures for the turbo diesel unit but we know that it return an improved combined fuel economy of 62,8 mpg UK.

Besides the new engine choices, the Gordini lineup comes with distinctive models in terms of interior and exterior styling. The Renault Clio Gordini is available with the Glacier White exterior finish, special side mirrors and grey racing stripes. Optional, you can opt for three body colors such as Pearl Black, Ruby Red and Malta Blue.

The exterior appearance is completed by a new rear spoiler painted in the same color with the body along 16-inch Turini alloy wheels and special badging.

Inside, the French model is offered in standard with a radio CD, Carminat TomTom satellite navigation, electric panoramic sunroof, fingertip remote controls, auto wipers and lights, front curtain airbags, cruise control, a climate system and gloss black trim for the console.

A leather steering wheel with white stripe, grey or blue upholstery and Gordini badges are also present at the interior of the Clio Gordini. The starting price of the Clio Gordini fitted with 1.6-liter petrol unit is £14,000 while the turbo diesel unit is priced at £14,950.

The Americans from Ford decided to reveal the new Harley-Davidson F-150 truck a new model which came into being thanks to the collaboration between Harley-Davidson and Ford. While availability details along pricing are not available yet, we have some photos and details about the standard features and engine range.

At the exterior, the 2012 Ford Harley-Davidson F-150 comes with two exterior finishes, the White Platinum Tri-Coat and the Tuxedo Black. The American model benefits from 22-inch aluminum wheels fitted with low profile tires, Harley-Davidson badges, smoked front and rear optical blocks but also a huge chrome front grille.

“The 2012 Ford Harley-Davidson™ F-150 delivers on the custom cool design the lineup is known for, with new snakeskin leather interior accents and a stylized bodyside graphic. Also new are the wheel design and a premium paint color,” adds Ford.

Under the bonnet, the new American model will be offered with a 6.2-liter V8 unit able to deliver 411 horsepower and 588 Nm of torque, quite enough power for the massive model. Entering the cabin you will enjoy high quality materials such as leather seats, special badging, scuff plates and brushed aluminum trim. Other features include rear view camera, ambient lighting, a 4.2-inch LCD screen, Navigation System with voice function and power moonroof.

Even the model comes with an attractive exterior design along premium interior features inside, it is still a truck and offers a trailer towing capability of around 3,400 kilograms (7,500 pounds).

This is not the first time when the two companies are collaborating on new Ford models, the American manufacturer being in tight partnership with Harley-Davidson since 1999, selling more than 70,000 units.

Once again, Ferrari pushes the boundaries of what we perceive as the limits of performance and speed with the introduction of the Scuderia version of their 458.

This information comes to us as a result of the Italian company’s preparations for the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show. At this particular event they’re going to unveil quite a few new models and some of their future plans.

Ferrari 458 Italia

A Ferrari headline for the show in Germany would be found in the 458 Spyder, the convertible version of what most of the world’s motoring press hail as the best sports car out there.

In regards to the Ferrari 458 Scuderia, we expect it to be much like the previous versions of the car and thus turn out lighter and it will most likely come up with a re-tuned version of the engine.

If history teaches us anything it’s that Ferrari’s lightweight sports cars have always included considerable use of carbon fiber in the construction, a stripped out interior and some sort of ground breaking computers to control the suspension and driver inputs.

The engine is already a bit of a gem, but with a Ferrari developed naturally aspirated 4.5 liter V8 you tend to expect more than the 570 horsepower and 398 lb-ft torque.

It would be foolish to claim that the Ferrari 458 has a weak engine, but in the Scuderia version there’s a very good chance that it’s going to be unleashed to its maximum potential.

Lugging around less weight, producing more power and having a smarter computer make sure everything is used to the full potential could end up making the Ferrari 458 Scuderia quite the joyous occasion, a car that will make us wonder, what will they do next?

In other Ferrari news, besides the 458 Scuderia, they’re going to introduce a couple of new entries to the V12 engine business.

One of them is the already highly anticipated Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano’s successor which should maintain the two seater layout and the front mounted monster of a V12.

The second such engine they develop, will be found in the 70 year anniversary gift the company is treating itself to, a spiritual successor to the mighty Ferrari Enzo.

Rumor has it the V12 in this F70 model could end up developing up to 800 horsepower and it would be, almost undoubtedly, a naturally aspirated unit.

It’s been nearly a couple of decades since we’ve started complaining about how safety standards are a big problem in the life of cars, particularly sports ones but it’s only today that a first serious victim appears.

Pagani’s latest supercar the pronunciation challenging Huayra failed the infamous NHTSA approval that every car needs in order to be sold in America.

As a result of the event, none of the fifteen orders Americans have placed for the Pagani Huayra will be completed very soon, or at all.

The test in case was developed by the NHTSA way back in 2000 and it introduced new guidelines for advanced air bags and their placement.

Failing any of these would normally put you out of the U.S. market but some concessions have been made in the past. This occurred with low volume manufacturers.

Prime examples for the exemption are the Italians at Lamborghini and the Americans at Tesla. With this precedent set, Pagani have got to go through the effort of extensive paperwork in order to obtain the same sort of status for the Huayra.

If the Italians don’t manage to obtain these special papers they will have only two options and none of them will see any of the American customers happy.

This is because Pagani will either have to go back to the drawing board and their engineers will no longer be working towards developing new high performance engines and, in return, they’ll be redesigning the airbag system.

Advanced airbags is an accepted term used by the NHTSA to determine a special sort of airbags. In reality, the airbags themselves will have nothing special, but the sensors that operate them do this.

You see, U.S. safety standards claim that car airbags nowadays need to have special sensors that will control the airbag’s detonation depending on the weight and height of the passenger they’re supposed to protect.

Pagani’s system remains virtually unchanged since they brought out the original Zonda nearly 10 years ago. Updating it will cost around 5.7 million dollars and spreading that sort of money over the limited orders they get in the United States is going to be quite the racket.

As a result of this, there’s going to be a 2 million dollar price tag associated to the U.S. spec Pagani Huayra or there’s going to be no price at all associated with it.

That’s right folks, there’s a good chance that the first Pagani supercar product for a decade may end up never happening.

The American department of Toyota decided to release today pricing for the new Yaris hatchback in the U.S., a model which is already available in Europe and Australia since this summer. The Japanese model has been revealed in the U.S. at an annual music festival in Chicago, Lollapalooza to be more precise, while further details are currently unavailable.

However, the Japanese company released the pricing for the 2012 Yaris, the entry-level version coming with a MSRP of $14,115 while the most expensive Yaris is priced at $17,200. Somehow strange, Toyota released no additional details or photos for the U.S.-spec Yaris, therefore we will relate to the European market version which is pictured in this article.

“The Yaris liftback enters its second-generation with an all-new redesign. The new Yaris will again offer the Toyota Star Safety System as standard equipment and an array of enhancements including a new SE model with an enhanced tuned suspension. Complete details for the new Yaris will be announced in the near future,” explains Toyota.

We also know that the 2012 Toyota Yaris L, the entry-level version, comes with a five-speed manual gearbox while the SE model is fitted with a four-speed automatic transmission. However, you have to add a $760 handling fee to the original price, but however the most affordable variant won’t exceed $15,000.

At the Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, Toyota displayed the Yaris LE which, according to the specification sheet, comes with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder unit which returns a fuel economy of 30mpg city and 38mpg highway when coupled to a manual transmission.

On the other hand, the automatic transmission will return the same consumption in city while the highway economy is around 35mpg. Skimming the press release we find that the production starts on August 31 while the new SE model will be fitted with an enhanced tuned suspension.

“Yaris will continue to be an excellent value with more than $1,000 of additional standard equipment. Pricing for the all-new 2012 Yaris will be comparable to a Convenience Package-equipped current generation Yaris,” adds the Japanese manufacturer.
