Ford releases a new special edition of the current Fiesta, a performance-orientated model which is comes with both styling improvements but also with two new engine choices. The new Fiesta Sport edition features an aerodynamic kit including revised front and rear bumpers, silver grille surround, Panther Black 17-inch alloy wheels as standard and silver alloys as optional.
This special edition of the American model also comes with seven new exterior colors including matt finishes but only for the three-door model as this is the only body variant which receives this package.
Under the bonnet, Ford Fiesta Sport comes with a 1.6-liter turbo diesel unit able to deliver 95 horsepower and a combined fuel consumption of only 4,1 liters/100 km. The diesel engine also keeps the emissions at a low level, the American model issuing 107 g/km CO2 emissions.
If you want more power, the second choice is a 1.6-liter Duratec Ti-VCT petrol engine able to produce 134 horsepower and 160 Nm of torque at 4,250 rpm. This will kick the new Fiesta Sport from 0 to 100 km/h in 8,7 seconds and will make possible a top speed of 195 km/h. Ford claims that there is also a revised exhaust system and a retuned transmission that helps the model to obtain optimized performance.
Entering the cabin, the model offers alloy metal pedals, special floor mats, silver scuff plates, air conditioning with automatic temperature control but also leather handbrake and gear knob. Of course, there’s a new pair of seats, heated seats to be more precise, wrapped in Ebony black leather and silver stitching. According to the official details, the new Ford Fiesta Sport special edition is specially designed for the European market. However, the model will be available only in a limited number of countries such as Netherlands, Switzerland, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Germany and UK.
"The Fiesta boasts a rich sporting heritage and the combination of the free-revving 1.6-litre Duratec Ti-VCT petrol engine and dynamic, contemporary styling inside and out means the Fiesta Sport Special Edition is a worthy addition to Ford's roll-call of performance models," said Roelant de Waard, Vice President, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford of Europe.
Rikk 07 Jul, 2011Recently there’s been a huge influx of automotive manufacturers developing and testing their sports cars around the Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit.
While that’s admirable and it leads to new standardization in terms of sport car judging few manufacturers manage to do the Nurburgring testing quite as well as Porsche.
Their newest version of the Cayman was recently spotted at the aforementioned circuit during its early chassis testing and development stage.
As to be expected Porsche didn’t do anything to the design and the new Cayman still looks remarkably similar to the old Cayman.
That’s a gap of nearly 8 years in design since this new Porsche Cayman is slated for a 2013 release date. Never mind the looks, I’m sure Porsche will have done something interesting with those headlights and taillights they keep hidden for the moment.
Probably the most relevant component of this new edition of the 2013 Porsche Cayman is the performance levels it promises.
This is where, speculatively at least, we’re going to get the S Model in first and it should be powered by a 3.4 liter flat-six engine developing somewhere between 320 and 350 horsepower.
Naturally, you can expect this top of the line model to be hooked up to whichever transmission you want. In Porsche’s world, that choice would either give you a six speed manual or the infamous PDK dual-clutch automatic. Some less voiced rumors even claim the 2013 Porsche Cayman S could get the same ZF 7 speed manual (we’re going into mountain bike territory) the next generation of the 911 will get.
Slightly more possible than that is Porsche’s choice for the less powerful models of the 2013 Cayman. At the moment, the smallest engine you can get in the Cayman is a 2.9 liter.
That’ the powerplant the Germans may improve up to 265 horsepower and 206 lb-ft of torque or even replace altogether with a smaller, 2.5 liter four cylinder unit.
No doubt, fuel economy and emissions will also see a series of improvements and whether or not it will be down to the newly developed engines Porsche will still add a few toys to help these figures.
Chief among the fuel sipping features will be a start/stop system and changing the 2013 Porsche Cayman’s power steering to an electromechanical setup.
Nurburgring testing is impressive, the amount of technology and those updated specs of the 2013 Cayman is likewise but probably the best of what we’ve heard about this new mid-range Porsche is still to follow:
A Targa model is currently under consideration.

Lupica G. 07 Jul, 2011BMW’s F01 M5 may have gotten an official photo shoot and even an unofficial Nurburgring lap time to prove it’s here and planing to stay but that doesn’t mean the old one has to go.
In fact, Edo Competition plans to show the world that it would be wrong to write off the E60 version of the M5, particularly in the estate body shape.
That is what justifies the considerable amount of work the German tuner put into developing the M5 Touring’s Dark Edition.
A Black paint finish, black 20 inch alloy wheels and tinted windows are pretty much a guaranteed part of anything that’s called the Dark Edition, but what about the rest?
Edo Competition fitted a fully redesigned aero body kit which, joyfully, does nothing but improve the aspect of this extremely fast estate.
According to Edo Competition the interior was slightly revised with a few teaks here and there. Totally open to discussion, the tuners offer a variety of leather upholstering choices and carbon trim parts.
Small details such as a new BMW M5 Touring speedometer with special white dials and a backlit Edo Competition logo complete the picture.
And now, let’s face it, this sort of tuning is nice and pleasant but when it comes from the Germans and when it’s done to an E60 BMW M5 Touring we all know it’s going to be all about the performance.
On that front, nobody is going to be disappointed, no matter how much of a fan of the good old 5.0 liter naturally aspirated V10 you are.
Courtesy of new new catalytic converters, high flow air filters, a (louder and better sounding) exhaust system and by finally adapting the ECU in order to handle the rest of the new modifications.
The end result is an output of 555 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque. Predictably, this sort of power does alter the acceleration and top speed figures by a pretty impressive amount.
0 to 62 mph comes up in 4.2 seconds and an updated, non-restricted top speed figure for the Edo Competition BMW M5 Touring Dark Edition stands at 190 mph.
Weirdly enough, the press release from Edo Competition speaks of now braking or handling upgrades being made to the E60 BMW M5 estate. That could mean one of two things.
Either the German tuner still has a few more updates to show us, stuff like the price, availability and production figures or they reckon the standard systems are good enough to handle the increase performance.
