The German tuning company well-known for their tuning packages designed for BMW and MINI models decided to reveal the Eagle concept, a model based on the current Mini JCW. The Aachen-based tuning house decided to pull the performance of the small British model to its limits, finally claiming that this is the fastest Mini around.
Well, we got some serious reasons to agree with the German tuners as the Eagle concept managed to obtain a groundbreaking 1:13.341 minutes around the Hockenheim circuit, a lap time good enough to surpass supercars such as BMW M3, Porsche 911 Turbo or Ferrari California.
According to the same source, only few special models such as the BMW M3 Kompressor or KTM X-Bow managed to obtain a better lap time at the German circuit. It could be quite shocking to hear that a model from BMW’s subsidiary managed to get a better lap than the famous BMW M3 E92 and even faster than the new BMW 1 Series M Coupe which obtained a time of 1:14.1 minutes.
Actually, the new BMW 1M Coupe received a tuning kit from the Germans at TechTec, a package which raises the total output of the smallest M to 450 horsepower over the standard 335 horses, improving the lap time to 1:13:59 minutes. Even so, there is still not enough to exceed the performance of AC Schnitzer’s Mini JCW Eagle concept.
In terms of mechanical changes, AC Schnitzer claims that the 1.6-liter turbocharged unit is now able to deliver 256 horsepower after serious improvements while the total mass decreased by 80 kilograms. Other features of the British concept include a new sport suspension system alongside 18-inch alloy wheels and other minor styling tweaks. The one-off model is priced somewhere around 60,000 but AC Schnitzer shows no sign that the model would be for sale.
The German specialists also decided to release a video that confirms the performance of the new Mini JCW Eagle at the Hockenheim circuit in Germany.
