Chrysler release SRT range pricing for the U.S. market

Chrysler announced technical details along pricing for the SRT range which currently includes four models. SRT stands for Street and Racing Technology and is the performance division of the American company, responsible of transforming the standard models into high-performance vehicles. For now, the range includes two models from Dodge, Charger and Challenger to be more precise, one model from Chrysler, the new 300 but also the Jeep Grand Cherokee.

2012 Chrysler 300 SRT8 comes with a new 6.4-liter HEMI V8 unit able to develop 470 horsepower and 637 Nm of torque. The model accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 4 seconds and provides a top speed of 281 km/h. The braking distance for the new 300 SRT8 is estimated at 36,5 meters (120 feet) while the quarter mile is achieved in around 12 seconds.

The 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 comes with the same 6.4-liter V8 unit able to deliver 470 horsepower but slightly less torque, 630 Nm to be more precise. The American SUV does the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,8 seconds and provides a top speed of 257 km/h. The braking power from 100 km/h to 0 is 35,3 meters (116 feet) while the quarter mile is covered in 13,5 seconds.

Finally, the last two models benefiting from the SRT8 variant are bearing Dodge’s badge. We talk about the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 which is offered with the same unit and same performance figures as the Chrysler 300 SRT8. It manages to do the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in around 4 seconds and reach a top speed of 281 km/h. The quarter mile distance is covered in 12 seconds while the stopping power from 100 km/h to 0 is 36,5 meters (120 feet).

Lastly, there is a SRT version for the 2012 Dodge Challenger as well, a model coming with the same unit and similar figures comparing to the 300 SRT8 or Dodge Charger SRT8. Therefore, you get an acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 4 seconds, a top speed of 293 km/h and a quarter mile time of around 12,5 seconds.

In terms of pricing, the Dodge Challenger SRT8 is the cheapest with a starting price of $44,077 followed by Dodge Charger SRT8 priced at $46,660, Chrysler 300 SRT8 with $47,995 and the Jeep Grand Cherokee which is priced at $55,295.
