Between 1967 and 2002, the American company produced 4,774,156 units while the rest of 225,844 vehicles were produced between 2009 and 2011. Chevrolet Camaro reached its fifth generation, the new model being introduced in March 2009 when the production resumed.

The 5 millionth Chevrolet Camaro is the 1LS Coupe variant benefiting from a black exterior finish, interior upholstery in the same color, the 3.6-liter V6 unit able to produce 312 horsepower, coupled to a six-speed manual transmission. The celebrating model produced at the factory in Oshawa, Ontario will go to its owner in Kentucky and costs $24,700 (MSRP).
