Mercedes-Benz boss Dieter Zetsche has given approval for a second Shooting Brake model to accompany the brand's eagerly awaited CLS Shooting Brake due out in 2012, according to German media reports.

The new model is expected to go on sale in North America in 2014. It's based on the German carmaker's upcoming CLC--a four-door coupe that uses a new platform that will offer buyers a stylish but practical rival to the likes of the Audi A5 Sportback and the upcoming BMW 3-series GT.

The CLC variant would be priced below the larger and more opulent CLS version. "Shooting brake" is a term used to describe sporty wagons that usually have two long doors. The term is becoming popular again, and Ferrari revealed the FF--which uses shooting-brake styling--this spring at the Geneva motor show.

The five-door CLC Shooting Brake is set to receive a sloping roof and a heavily angled tailgate that eschews outright load capacity for head-turning style. It will be sold alongside the CLC coupe, which Mercedes has confirmed will go on sale in the U.S. market in 2013.

The CLC Shooting Brake will come with a new range of four-cylinder, direct-injection gasoline engines, along with the choice of either front-wheel drive or optional all-wheel drive.

Audi’s Q3 Crossover may end up getting a bit too common on the streets so ABT Sportsline, the Ingolstadt company’s specialist tuner came up with a new body kit for it.

The infamous German tuning house will do make all sorts of modifications to the design of the Audi Q3 on both the appearance and performance front.

As far as the aesthetic side is concerned, most of it seems to have changed yet it doesn’t really seem to be a mutant of a crossover rolling down the road.

After placing a new radiator grill on the front, a new front spoiler around it and ABT Sportsline decided to take care of some detailing stuff.

Those door strip attachments, the custom making of the exhaust inserts and the rear skirt so that they come together perfectly and flow with the original design of the Q3 crossover and the new rear wing ABT Sportsline decided to put on the back of it.

Sadly, we know very little on what ABT Sportsline plans to do with the already well appointed interior of the Audi Q3 Crossover and we have just as little information on what can be done with the rest of the comfort features and gizmos on the inside.

On the better side, there’s quite a lot of tinkering happening at ABT Sportsline under the bonnet of the Audi Q3 Crossover and they haven’t stopped with any of the engines in the lineup but covered all of them.

To begin with the 2.0 liter TDI diesel engine that used to develop 140 horsepower was turned all the way up to 170 ponies. In return, the factory made 2.0 liter TDI that developed 175 horsepower was retuned by the company up to 195 horses.

For those with a little more style in regards to the sort of fuel they put in their cars the 2.0 liter TSI unit that used to develop 211 horsepower goes considerably beyond the standard trim which is offered by Audi.

ABT Sportsline’s version develops a whopping 250 horsepower and they even had some fun with the lesser powered version of the turbocharged petrol powered 2 liter.

A less significant but still important bump from 170 to 210 horsepower is now offered. How do you like that for a “de-tuned” engine?

Just shortly after the Italians at Ferrari decided to announce their plans for the 458 Scuderia and some other products in their lineup we got ourselves a treat from the streets.

The successor to their V12 powered coupe the Ferrari 599 was spotted rolling around and it was covered in some light camouflage, so it’s not that difficult to tell what it looks like.

This is because it’s not really a new Ferrari 599 but a test mule vehicle that was cobbled together from a successor’s chassis and body panels the Pracing Horse has in their parts bin.

As far as the made up body we see on this Ferrari 599 it seems to be using the rear end from the past version of the car and that’s mated to the front of the Ferrari California.

Inline for the new release Ferrari is expected to come forward with the same general appearance, a long bonnet to house the V12, a GT-sized cabin at the back and most likely only two seats.

The expected bits for Ferrari to keep should be the rear diffuser, some of the Ferrari 599 GTO lessons and a naturally aspirated engine with quite the punch.

Internally, the Ferrari 599′s successor is known as the F152, this naming business being most likely related to the 150 year anniversary of Italy like the Formula 1 car.

What we should expect from the new Ferrari 599 successor in terms of technology is what should make it stand apart from the rest of the two doors gran turismo.

There’s going to be a 6.3 liter V12 with an expected power output sitting somewhere in the region of 700 horsepower, pretty much the same as the latest flagship from Lamborghini, the Aventador.

All of this rampant performance should be sent to the rear wheels only via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox much like the one we’ve seen in the Ferrari 458 Italia.

Other tasty treats for the Ferrari’s 599 successor are going to be made up stuff like the special E-Diff, electronic differential, direct injection and some weight lessening.

Extensive use of composite panels will most likely end up making the next Ferrari 599 a considerable amount faster and better handling.

The Ferrari F152 may be still in early stages of development but most information is going to be available as early as next year at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show.
